“But by the Grace of God I am what I am: and his Grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain [and will never be in vain]” (1Cor. 15:10). Caro’s life has been shaped by the many intersecting identities he holds. Born in the warm, hospitable, never asleep city of Cairo, his early childhood was formed by the Christian faith of the Coptic Orthodox Church, that claimed to be traditional, solid and timeless, it was the only community he loved and belonged. Caro moved to Algeria where he spent his late childhood home-schooled, away from church and friends. That time laid the foundation for a chosen personal relationship with God and Jesus Christ as a personal redeemer. Jesus Christ as Caro knew through the scripture was someone he could trust with his deepest heart-folds, desires and confusion. That time was a time of struggle as Caro didn’t understand why he was treated differently from his brother, only to gradually understand that no one really could see him for who he was, and love him for who he is, other than his friend and companion, his refuge, Jesus Christ, who was enough.
Caro moved to Turtle Island (Canada) about fourteen years ago, lived in Tkaronto (Toronto) most of that time and met his wonderful wife and friend here in this city.
Caro knew Generous Space as New Direction Ministries back in 2008, as an ex-gay ministry. A few years ago Caro came to know that the ministry transformed to an affirming ministry. He rejoiced in God who turns the curse into a blessing and wanted to be part of that unique community. He started working with the ministry in 2018.
Caro believes he is a living testament to a living God, whose bias is love. A living God, who guides relentlessly, protects fiercely and waits patiently. Caro seeks a faith community that exists in relation and not in coincidence, that grows by and because of its differences, that is accountable not just to God above, but also to God within each and every living being. Caro is currently following his call to ministry by getting his Masters in Spiritual Psychotherapy.
