What's it all about?
In this strange time of physical distancing and the disappointment of in-person gatherings being cancelled, we are pleased to welcome you to what we're calling our East Coast Virtual Connection.
We’re leveraging technology to offer a chance to connect with each other on the weekend that would have typically been our GS East Coast Retreat. The East Coast Virtual Connection will feature community groups, a keynote from Justin Lee, worship and reflection, and space for discussion and dialogue. We’ll also have affinity groups and a virtual version of a Kitchen Party. Easily accessible from home, you’re free to participate in any or all of the sessions.
With a “donate-as-you-can” structure, we’re looking forward to one of our most accessible events ever. We’re looking forward to your participation!
Where is it?
We're taking this connection time online!
Since we can't be together in person, the Generous Space East Coast Virtual Connection will bring us all together using the Zoom platform.
Links and instructions will be sent out to registrants closer to the actual event date.
(For answers to your questions about what this will look like, check out the FAQ page.)
While we know the Virtual Connection will look different than our in-person retreats would have, we are working hard to use the Zoom medium creatively and keep as much of the 'feel' of our in-person retreats as possible. This means keeping affinity groups, community groups and other hang-out times on the schedule along with a keynote and time of worship.

What can I expect from the Virtual Connection?
We have tried to create a bit more space in the schedule for this weekend, but there is still lots for you to do! For those who are not sure how "Zoomed out" they will be, here is plenty of permission to opt in or opt out of any of the scheduled events according to your own needs, energy levels, and comfort levels with spiritual practices and conversations. Here are some things we are planning that you can choose to participate in…
Keynote Speaker… where you can hear and learn from Justin Lee.
Worship… reflecting multiple worship styles and different spiritual practices.
Affinity Group Times… where you can choose to chat with people who share similar journeys, interests, and questions to yours.
Evening Hangout Times… for catching up with old friends and meeting new ones… organized activities include an open chat space and a virtual kitchen party!
How much does it cost?
For the Generous Space East Coast Virtual Connection, there is no registration fee.
Donations will be gratefully received to support our speaker and cover retreat costs.
Donations can be made by credit card through our donate page or by e-transferring a donation to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please make a note that this donation is for the Virtual Connection so we know where to direct the funds. Thank you for your support!
“What’s all this “generous space” stuff all about?”
“What if I can't attend the whole weekend?”
“What if I’m not fully “out” yet?”
“What if I’m straight/cisgender – am I welcome?”
“Is it okay to come if I’m not sure how I feel about church or faith?”
If your question isn’t covered there, feel free to email Becca at becca[at]generousspace.ca.
