Everyone is welcome to join us
over the August long weekend (Aug. 2-5, 2019)
5th annual Ontario Generous Space Camp-OUT!
The GS Camp-OUT is a perfect opportunity to kick-start and deepen your friendships with other members of the Generous Space Community. We enjoy a laid-back, low-structure atmosphere in the beauty of the outdoors, along with plenty of food, games, lake-swimming, campfires, and laughter.
For the fourth year in a row, our wonderful hosts are Sylvia Keesmaat (author & professor at the ICS & TST) and Brian Walsh (author, professor & chaplain at U of T). Every summer they host us at their home, Russet House Farm, where they seek to cultivate a sustainable relationship with creation, practice organic methods of agriculture, use renewable energy, promote species diversity, local economic development, and sustainable forestry, and create a place of hospitality, education, and celebration. The Farm is about 1.5 hours northeast of Toronto, near Lindsay, ON, and we will help arrange rides for carpooling up there.
You can choose to join us for the full long weekend (3 nights) or for a shorter part of it (see ticket prices on registration page). Most folks will be tenting in an open field, so some camping gear (tents, sleeping bags, mats, etc.) will be necessary. If you’re up for tenting but don’t have equipment just let us know and we’ll be happy to help out. For those who aren’t into tenting there are local hotels or available billets – so don’t let that be a reason to miss out. We plan delicious meals and provide all the supplies. You’ll get to take turns being on cooking and cleaning up teams.
In the daytime, there will be opportunities for hanging out and playing board games & sports, with the option of also learning & lending a hand around the farm. There is lots to do in the surrounding area, and morning and afternoon trips can be arranged among campers interested in swimming in the nearby lakes, hiking, horseback riding, golfing, farmer’s markets, and more. In the evenings, Brian & Sylvia will share reflections with us, and we’ll enjoy singing and snacks around the campfire.
If you don’t want to tent, and would like assistance with indoor bed options: please contact firstname.lastname@example.org. (note that the full registration fee will apply if you stay off-site). NOTE: There are also several hotels in the area that might have space left!
