Update from the Board 05/31

To the GS Community,

As the Board of Generous Space Ministries, we would like to provide an update as we continue to wind down the ministry. We recognize that the closure of the ministry is destabilizing and upsetting for so many, and recognize that this rupture leaves the community with many questions and concerns. We will continue to communicate as we are able, respecting the confidentiality of personal and ministry concerns. The Board has not yet established an official end date for the organization; we will communicate a more concrete timeline as it is available.

We wish to express our deep gratitude for so many of you who have stepped into this challenging season with leadership, strength and grace. Thank you to all small group leaders for your work over the years, making the GSM community what it is. Especially now, the board is incredibly grateful to group leaders who continue to facilitate and connect with those reaching out for safety and community.

We are grateful to our donors who have partnered with GSM financially over the years. The work of this ministry would not have been possible without your support. Any continuing donations during this time are greatly appreciated and will assist us to wind down well. Funds will assist with supports needed to close well and to meet financial obligations. We understand that you may wish to cancel your donations - please direct any such requests to donations@generousspace.ca.

WAGE Project Update

The Board is currently exploring options for the WAGE Project to continue under the oversight of an organization called Community-Based Research Centre (CRBC) www.cbrc.net. This shift will increase the reach and scope of participants for the research project and provide avenues for greater diversity and inclusion. We are engaging in conversations with CRBC and the government funder, with the aim of ensuring that this important work continues in support of SOGIECE survivors. We are thankful for Jordan Sullivan’s stewardship of this project to date.

The shutdown of Generous Space is devastatingly hard. The Board is working with volunteers to compile a list of support resources. If you would like access to this resource list when it is available, please reach out to GSlistening@gmail.com.

We ask for your prayers as we continue to navigate this painful and difficult closure. We will update the community as further information becomes available.
